(Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act)
IT’S THE LAW!
If you have a medical emergency or are in labor you have the right to receive the following services, within the capabilities of this hospital’s staff and facilities:
- An appropriate medical screening examination:
- Necessary stabilizing treatment (including treatment for an unborn child); and
- If necessary, an appropriate transfer to another facility.
You cannot be denied your rights for any reason, including:
- If you cannot pay
- Do not have medical insurance
- Are not entitled to Medicare or Medicaid
- Are not a U.S. citizen
- Your race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or age
If you believe your rights have been violated, you can file a complaint with the federal government or your State Survey Agency.

This hospital does participate in the Medicaid program.

Grand River Hospital District will screen self-pay patients under the Colorado Indigent Care Program and Hospital Discounted Care.
