(Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act)

IT’S THE LAW!

If you have a medical emergency or are in labor you have the right to receive the following services, within the capabilities of this hospital’s staff and facilities:

  • An appropriate medical screening examination:
  • Necessary stabilizing treatment (including treatment for an unborn child); and
  • If necessary, an appropriate transfer to another facility.

You cannot be denied your rights for any reason, including:

  • If you cannot pay
  • Do not have medical insurance
  • Are not entitled to Medicare or Medicaid
  • Are not a U.S. citizen
  • Your race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or age

If you believe your rights have been violated, you can file a complaint with the federal government or your State Survey Agency.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION:

Grand River Hospital District will screen self-pay patients under the Colorado Indigent Care Program and Hospital Discounted Care.
